MASS (TRANSIT) CONFUSION

The best thing about the discussion held at the April City Council meeting is that Rapid Transit is not a completely dead issue and is still being talked about in our city. However, I think a lot of people would like to see more than “talk” and see our first Rapid Transit Corridor from Downtown to the University of Manitoba actually completed, hopefully in their lifetimes! A notice of motion was tabled this week that resolves that Winnipeg City Council join with the Government of Canada and the international community to denounce Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Bill and any similar legislative proposal.
As you may be aware, the City of Winnipeg has had a long partnership with the City of Kampala in Uganda and therefore has a unique connection with that country. With this motion, Winnipeg will be one of the first (if not the first) municipality in Canada to support such a motion. (more…)
