Fort Rouge Coun. Jenny Gerbasi said the city has cut one-sixth of the budget to repair local streets, and is not dealing with the backlog of streets in need of rehab. She said new infrastructure projects such as the Plessis Road underpass have been made a political priority, while there is no plan to address the existing number of streets that need to be fixed. "We have limited funds, we can't do it all but yet we're doing what's not necessarily the highest priorities," she said. "In my opinion the Chief Peguis Trail and the Plessis underpass are things that should not have come before other things including our existing infrastructure and rapid transit."
